    Aboriginal Healthy Babies/Healthy Children Program
  1. A-HBHC program is part of a larger service delivery system on and off-reserves. What other programs work in concert with this program?
    Answer:
    1. Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program (CPNP): This is a comprehensive program delivered through the Community Action Program for Children and is designed to provide food supplementation, nutrition counselling, support, education, referral and counselling on lifestyle issues to pregnant women who are most likely to have unhealthy babies;
       
    2. Community Action Program for Children (CAP-C): Delivered through Health Canada regional offices, funds community groups to establish and deliver services that address the developmental needs of at risk children (0 -  6 years). Services incorporate education and intervention activities.
       
       
  2. Is there someone who is there to assist us when there is any confusion about the any aspect of the program?
    Answer: Yes, you can telephone or fax the Aboriginal Healing and Wellness Strategy for information or e-mail the Aboriginal Healthy Babies/ Healthy Children Consultant. Before contacting the A/HBHC program consultant at the Aboriginal Healing and Wellness Strategy office, it is advisable to speak with your Supervisor, or the A-HBHC Co-ordinator in your community.
